DECATUR, Ga. -- A teen was shot Friday morning at around 1:30 while sleeping inside his home in Decatur. The drive-by shooting happened in the 4800 block of Haymarket Trail, just north of Interstate 20.
His mother said 19-year-old Tracy Cannon was hoping to go to college or work on a cruise ship.
"Then he always talked about one day he was going to get married and have children," Betty Polk said. "I would have liked to see my grandchildren but I won't get to see them now."
Investigators from the DeKalb County Police Department said they don't have any motive or suspects yet in the case. A car pulled up to a home and fired several shots at the teen as he slept inside in his room. He was hit at least once, then taken to the hospital where he later died.
The drive-by suspects drove off, investigators said. No one on the scene had any information on the vehicle or the suspects involved.
Polk said her tears are being held back by the anger she feels for those who solve their problems with bullets.
"They tell me the children are supposed to bury their parents but nowadays it seems the parents are burying their children," Polk said.
"Whoever it is you need to come forth and turn yourself in."
