ATLANTA --Some disappointing job news in the latest report from the Georgia Department of Labor, but on the other side of the ledger, some encouraging news on jobs coming to Metro Atlanta.

The State's unemployment numbers are up to 8.8-percent, up .3 from June. Officials blame the increase on new layoffs and non-contract school workers still unemployed because of the summer break.

But there is good news, with hundreds of jobs are coming to Georgia.

Topping the list are jobs from one of the nation's leading home builders, The Pulte Group.

The Company is relocating its corporate headquarters from Michigan to Atlanta.

Richard Dugas, Jr., Pulte Chairman and CEO, Kasim Reed, Atlanta Mayor, and Nathan Deal, Georgia's Governor, to announce the move and talk about jobs.

"When fully staffed our Corporate offices will employ approximately 320 people here, and we expect more than half of these individuals will be hired locally," Dugas said.

"We will begin the process shortly to fill a wide variety of well paying jobs including positions in accounting, finance, purchasing, information technology, human resources and administration," he added.

Pulte's move to Georgia comes as the home building industry continues to rebound, already showing a 60% increase in local construction, with almost 150,000 people now employed in construction statewide. That's an increase of more than 7,000 since last year.

Pulte has a long history in Georgia, having built more than 30,000 homes in the State over the last 40 years.

Also on tap for job hunters, hundreds of positions with fast food chain Bojangles.
