Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Rafael Nadal made short work of Milos Raonic to take the championship in Sunday's Rogers Cup final.

Nadal, the fourth seed, needed just 68 minutes to claim his eight title of 2013, posting a 6-2, 6-2 victory over his 22-year-old Canadian challenger.

The 27-year-old Spaniard improved to 4-0 lifetime against Raonic in their second meeting of the calendar year, and also upped his career finals record to 58-23. He earned a neat $547,300 for his effort.

Despite failing to become the first native son to win in Montreal since Robert Bedard in 1958, the 11th-seeded Raonic will have the additional respect accorded a Top 10 Emirates ATP ranking when the new list comes out on Monday.

The last ATP semifinal with two Canadians was in 1990 at Rio de Janeiro, where Andrew Sznajder lost in the final and Martin Wostenholme was beaten in the semis.
