MILTON, Ga. -- Over six days, the City of Milton Fire Department raised over $66,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association with their "Fill the Boot" fundraiser.
The total breaks the previous record from last year, Fire Chief Robert Edgar said, as he thanked Milton residents for their generosity.
"I cannot speak highly enough of our residents and the drivers who come through our city every day," Edgar said. "They opened up their wallets to give to a great cause, and because of their generosity, children will live better, fuller and more fulfilling lives."
The fire department will honor B Shift, which worked on May 10 and June 21 to bring in over $23,000 - the most overall.
To date, a spokeswoman for the City of Milton said, the fire department has raised around $353,000 for MDA.
