LITTLETON, Colo. -- Authorities are on the scene of a two alarm fire at Columbine High School.

Doug Ireland of the Littleton Fire Department, said the fire is relatively small and has been contained. Crews on the scene are working to ventilate the school which was filled with smoke from the fire.

According to officials, the fire was observed by a passerby after construction workers had left for the day. The fire started above the wood shop.

Crews had been doing some welding on the roof the school prior to the blaze but it is unclear if the construction contributed to the fire.

The cause of the fire has not, yet, been determined.
