FLOWERY BRANCH Ga. -- The City of Flowery Branch has declared a local state of emergency until further notice due to the significant amount of rainfall which took place Wednesday morning and is forecasted for Thursday.
Cantrell Street, where it crosses Flowery Branch Creek, is closed. A temporary bridge for Spring Street, which has experienced further deterioration due to flooding, has been created.
According to the city's press release, these are proactive measures, there have been no structural or utility failures as of Wednesday evening.
The release also states that the city will continue to closely monitor the roads and bridges and requests all citizens to use caution when traveling and to monitor rapidly changing weather conditions.
