Bobbie Jo Sumner, 39, has been charged with striking and killing 20-year-old Alex Desir as she walked on a sidewalk along a stretch of highway in Barnesville just before midnight Saturday.
A second suspect, Robert King, was also arrested in connection with the incident. King is Sumner's ex-boyfriend, according to Barnesville Police Maj. Craig Cooper.
The 2004 Saturn Vue that hit Desir was recovered and processed by the Spalding County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit, Cooper said.
Desir was walking to Huddle House, where she worked part time while studying nursing at Gordon College.
