Two charged in theft and murder of McDonough man

HENRY COUNTY, GA. -- Two men have been charged with theft by conversion and one of them for the murder of a 33-year-old McDonough man. 

Authorities were dispatched to Sweetwater Way in McDonough for respond to a report of a person shot. Authorities were greeted by a man who advised them that the victim had accidentally shot himself. 

The victim, Phillip Ryan Roy, 33, died of a gunshot wound to the head at Piedmont Henry Hospital shortly after being transported.

Further investigation determined that the gunshot wound was not self-inflicted and 23-year-old Douglas Allan Skidmore of McDonough and 31-year-old Victor Ray Lopez of McDonough has been arrested and charged in connection with his murder. 

Skidmore is charged with Murder and Theft by Converstion and Lopez with Theft by Conversion and False Statements to Police. 

Henry County authorities say the theft charges are related to the two suspects illegal possession of the victims car after the shooting. This investigation is on-going.
