A tractor-trailer wreck briefly blocked traffic on I-20 Wednesday morning.

(WXIA) -- Heavy showers caused backups on many of the highways across Metro Atlanta as well as on MARTA Wednesday morning.

Northbound MARTA trains are moving again after a lightning strike knocked out power for part of MARTA's system. The outage briefly stranded some passengers on a northbound train between the Arts Center station and the Lindbergh station.

I-20 was completely blocked for a time by accidents in two places during the heavy weather, both on the east and west sides of Metro Atlanta. In both places, the roadway has since reopened.

Traffic throughout Metro Atlanta saw delays due to the heavy rains and standing water in some locations. By 9:30 a.m., the rains had moved out of most of the metro area, but traffic delays continued through the remainder of the morning hours.

Georgia Power said about 300 customers had been without power, mostly in the Sandy Springs and Roswell areas earlier in the morning. Power has since been restored in those areas.
