SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Sandy Springs police are working to identify men who are allegedly committed two home invasions that took place within two weeks.

The first incident was on June 7, just before 11:00 p.m. at a home in the 1200 block of Heards Ferry Road. A teenager was home at the time, and later told police he was confronted by a suspect while in the basement.

The victim said a black male wearing a black ski mask and white "garden gloves" approached him. The crook had on a gray jump suit and was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun that according to the victim, had "chipped off paint" on it.

The suspect tied the teenager up with zip ties, according to Capt. Steve Rose, while a second, possibly third suspect briefly rummaged through the home and left.

Shortly after, the victim's brother and mother came home in separate cars. Police said the suspects got into the home and also left through the front door, which was unlocked.

The suspects stole a small amount of jewelry, Rose said.

The second home invasion happened just days later on June 19 at a home in the 5100 block of Powers Ferry Road.

This time, two suspects entered the home through an open garage door around 10:30 p.m., and confronted the homeowner in the kitchen.

Rose said the suspect used a silver handgun to threaten the victim, and force him into the master bedroom.

As with the June 7 incident, the two suspects used zip ties to bind the victim's arms and legs. They ordered the victim to tell them where he kept his jewelry, because they knew he owned a jewelry store.

Rose said the victim used to own a jewelry store, but it is no longer in business.

The victim told police the suspects were in the home for about ten minutes. They left through the garage with a some jewelry and some cash.

Rose said the victim described the two suspects as black males 5'11" - 6'0" tall with a skinny to muscular build, both dressed in all black clothing. They wore gloves and black ski masks so that only their eyes were visible.

Sandy Springs police detectives say the robberies are likely linked due to the similar systems used in each case. Detectives also believe they may have committed more robberies, and that there may be additional agencies involved.
