CONLEY, Ga. -- Two children are okay and uninjured after being involved in a car theft Monday afternoon.
11Alive's Jon Shirek talked to the mother of the children, Ashleigh Brown, who said she frequently drops her kids off at their grandmother's house.
It was around 4:00 p.m. when Brown took her kids to their grandmother's home on Greenwillow Way in Conley. She was dropping off her 1-year-old baby, and left her two other children in the car with the engine running.
Brown said a man jumped into the car while the kids were inside, and drove off with 9-year-old Brannon and 5-year-old Kyleigh.
Brannon was able to jump out of the car as it took off, but Kyleigh rode along during the theft.
However, when the suspect noticed the young child on board, he stopped down the road and dropped the child off, Brown said.
A resident at the home called 911.
The car, as Brown described, is a 2000 black Acura TL with tinted windows, with Georgia tag BSX 7763.
Clayton County police are looking for the suspect.
According to young Brannon, the suspect is a black male with short dreadlocks, and in his late twenties. He had on a white shirt, either sleeveless or with the sleeves cut off.
