ATLANTA -- On Friday, May 31, Atlanta police and the Security Dupree Group carried out a search warrant in southwest Atlanta, and found over $2 million in counterfeit merchandise.
The investigation led to the arrest of eight people, who now face charges of Felony Forged or Counterfeit Trade.
The investigation stemmed from Friday, May 17, when the Atlanta Police Vice Unit started investigating complaints of counterfeit goods and illegal drugs being sold in southwest Atlanta, in the 1900 block of Metropolitan Parkway.
As part of the efforts, undercover investigators bought merchandise from the location. Shortly after, they confirmed it was counterfeit. So, investigators proceeded with the warrant.
Along with almost $2.5 million, investigators seized four pounds of marijuana, two handguns, and around $3,400 in cash.
