Arrest made in Fayetteville Kohl's robbery

  • FAYETTEVILLE, Ga -- A suspect has been arrested in a robbery at a very popular shopping center in Fayetteville. Surveillance video and some vigilant news viewers helped police track down the suspect who robbed a woman outside Kohl's in the Fayette Pavilion.

    Zaquaus Stubbs, 20 of Jonesboro, is charged with Robbery by Force and Sudden Snatching, Battery and Financial Transaction Card Theft according to Fayetteville police.

    Police received numerous tips after surveillance video was aired on the news of a suspect using the robbery victim's stolen credit cards at a gas station convenience store in Jonesboro. Police said Stubbs was familiar to people who frequented the store. "He hung out at that store all the time, almost every day," said Lt. Mike Whitlow. "The store clerks knew him, they knew a street name.

    Stubbs arrest was made possible by two Georgia Department of Corrections probation officers. Lt. Whitlow said they saw the surveillance video on the news and recognized the suspect. One of those officers was Stubbs probation officer.

    when Stubbs was arrested. Arrington's wife was the robbery victim on April 27, 2013. "When I got home she gave me a huge hug and told me she's happy and felt just a little bit safer," Arrington said.

    Arrington said his wife hasn't fully recovered emotionally from the robbery, when the suspect grabbed her by the collar, threw her to the ground and stole her purse. His wife had not left the house since the robbery until he took her to the store this past weekend. "She was grabbing my hand when we went in holding hands and you could tell by the grip that she was a little worried getting out of the car," Arrington said.

    He said his wife tried to go to the grocery store by herself Wednesday but she turned around and drove home when she couldn't get out of the car at the store.
