DECATUR, Ga. -- DeKalb Sanitation and Keep DeKalb Beautiful reported on Tuesday that over 500 residents contributed to the Household Hazardous Waste event held earlier in April.
During the event, all DeKalb residents were encouraged to dispose of wastes from around that house safely, and free of charge. They brought items no longer needed from their basements, garages and under sinks, a DeKalb Co. spokesman said.
Together, the event rallied fuels, pesticides, mercury, propane, batteries and fluorescent bulbs. Plus, around 38,000 pounds of paint were collected.
DeKalb offers various opportunities to residents throughout the year, where they can help sustain a healthy environment in DeKalb County. For more information, visit Keep DeKalb Beautiful online.
