SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Over 450 volunteers joined forces on April 20 for the 11th annual Volunteer for a Better Sandy Springs Day.
Starting first thing in the morning, the team of hundreds met at North Springs High School to learn what they would be doing to help, socialize and attend a pep rally to get energized.
June Carlson, spokesman for the VBSS Volunteer Team said workers took on beautification projects that helped clean up schools and parks through the town. Some jobs included landscaping, painting, carpentry and clean-up.
Overall, Carlson reported that the materials and volunteer hours provided Sandy Springs with around $310,000 worth of community improvement.
