Stroke is the leading cause of death in the United States and anyone of age can be effected. The Help Desk found how you can be protected of personal risks associated with strokes.
In respect for National Stroke Awareness Month, Northside Hospital will offer free heart screenings throughout the month of May to determine risks for stroke, diabetes and heart disease.
The screenings will consist of a blood pressure reading, total cholesterol, glucose, a limited number of carotid ultrasounds, risk assessment and a discussion with a health care professional. In addition, the Northside Hospital in Forsyth will offer sleep apnea screenings and counseling for the discontinuance of smoking.
