DULUTH, Ga. -- The Gwinnett Gladiators are hosting a special night for Tripp Halstead at their final regular season home game on March 30.

Tripp is the two-year-old boy from Winder who has touched the country with his recovery adventure after being hit by a falling tree limb during storms associated with Hurricane Sandy last October.

A spokesman for the Gladiators said the team wants to help in Tripp's recovery, and the "Tripp Halstead Night" will be a fundraiser and "Homecoming Celebration" to benefit him.

The game against the Greenville Road Warriors is set for 7:05 that evening.

The local hockey team has set up a special advance-purchase online ticket, of which proceeds go to Tripp and his family. For every ticket sold through the online offer, the Gladiators will give $5 to the Halsteads/TeamBOOM. These tickets will not be for sale at the box office on gameday.

As the spokesman said, the Gladiators are preparing for the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs in early April. The fundraiser gives Atlanta and North Georgia residents a chance to cheer for Tripp's courage and recovery as a community, and assist with his tremendous medical care costs.

Since the tree branch fell on Tripp while he was playing at a playground, he and his family have been through many emotional highs and lows during a 5-month recovery. Tripp has now been through 11 surgeries.
