DUBLIN, Ga. -- Sheriff's officials in central Georgia say a man is facing a murder charge in the killing of a sheriff's deputy, who was found shot to death on an isolated road.
A motorist found the body of the Johnson County deputy on a road in Laurens County Friday night.
Laurens County sheriff's officials identified the deputy as 23-year-old Khristal Wright, who was off duty at the time.
Authorities say Wright appeared to have died at the scene as a result of gunshot wounds.
Sheriff's officials say 21-year-old Davoris Demez Hodges of Wrightsville was taken into custody and was being held in the Laurens County jail. He's facing charges of murder and armed robbery. It wasn't known early Monday whether Hodges has an attorney.
