CONYERS, Ga. -- Rockdale County Sheriff's investigators are looking for more information on an argument that left one man dead and another in custody.
On Tuesday, the Sheriff's Office sent deputies to 32 Lakeshore Drive, when a 911 call came in a few minutes before 10:00 p.m.
Investigator Michael Camp said the caller told the 911 operator that he had just shot a man. When deputies got to the scene, they found the victim unresponsive in the front yard with gunshot wounds to his chest and stomach.
Deputies immediately took the caller into custody. He has been identified as 31-year-old Devaill McCoy.
Camp said investigators determined that the caller and victim had fired several shots at each other during an argument.
Two shots hit the victim, and he died from those injuries. He has been identified as 27-year-old Darius Reed.
McCoy's home was shot at several times, but he did not get hit during the scuffle, Camp said.
McCoy is being held at the Rockdale County Jail on a charge of voluntary manslaughter.
Camp said more charges are possible as the investigation continues.
