COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) -- Fire officials say an early morning blaze has destroyed a home in Columbus and seven people escaped the fire without any injuries.
Firefighters responded to a house fire around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday and contained the fire within about 20 minutes.
Columbus Fire Marshal Ricky Shores said the home was a total loss, and estimated the fire caused $200,000 in damage to the home and $150,000 in damage to its contents - which included four cars in the garage.
Officials say the family's dogs died in the fire.
Authorities say the fire is under investigation and the blaze appears to have started in the garage.
