ATLANTA -- At the ToysRUs in Alpharetta, the early morning rush never materialized since Black Friday started at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

"I came last night, and there were a couple hundred people in line," shopper Christina Watson said. "I went home and came back at 4:30 this morning. It's been great. It's empty, and I got what I was looking for."

Best Buy waited until midnight to open, and it paid off at the North Point store with a busier Black Friday than last year.

"I think our company still sees the value of the holidays and taking care of our employees, so I don't think we sacrificed a whole lot," general manager George Chiste saidr.

Hundreds were in line when the store opened at midnight, but the crowd thinned out by 4 a.m. By then, the door busters were sold out.

It wasn't just electronics that had shoppers on the hunt for deals.

The Northlake Kohl's store also opened at midnight, and the checkout line grew quickly with shoppers looking to save on sweaters and shoes.
