ROME, Ga. -- Hazardous Household Waste Day is set for Saturday, November 17 in Floyd County.
According to officials, many items should be disposed of properly, and kept out of landfills. Electronics are among these items.
It is free to drop off household items, but must be done by appointment, so there is less waste time on Saturday. To make an appointment, or for more information, call (706) 291-5266.
The Recycling Center is located at 405 Watters Street. They have several guidelines to be followed. All materials must be in original containers and securely closed. Containers must be packed in sturdy upright boxes and padded with newspaper or plastic. Leaking or broken containers must be dropped off in a waterproof container.
Next, the Recycling Center asks that there is no smoking or eating when each appointment arrives, and the pets are left at home.
