HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -- A Locust Grove family escaped a fire that gutted a home on Thursday due to their smoke alarm.
"I was doing laundry and I heard the smoke alarm and I saw all the kids getting out," stated the resident. The home was located on Locust Grove Griffin Road.
The family of nine includes two adults and seven children.
According to Captain Sabrina Puckett, the origin and cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation. One firefighter sustained a minor injury.
Everyone in the family escaped without injury.
