The complex could quickly put Bartow County and Emerson on the national sports map.
The first jobs, available now, are for workers in all types of construction.
"You are going to have guys who drive the dump trucks, you are going to have the operators, the equipment, the engineers, the architects, it's not just pure labor jobs," said Earl Ehrhart, Managing Partner of LakePoint Sports, developers of the project.
Within the year, LakePoint says it will have more than 2,000 people working directly or indirectly on the complex.
"We are really doing local hiring right up here, and we are focusing on this Northwest Corner of Georgia," Ehrhart added.
"We've got ballparks, entertainment venues, everything from golf courses to white water parks to zip lines to major outdoor retailers," he said.
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, who was guest of honor at the groundbreaking, sees LakePoint as a big money maker for the state.
"Tourism is probably about number two in terms of overall economic impact in Georgia," he said.
