AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The oldest practicing physician in the U.S. has died at the age of 102.
Dr. Walter "Curly" Watson passed away Wednesday at University Hospital in Augusta.
WAGT in Augusta learned Watson was hospitalized earlier this week after a fall.
Watson began practicing at University Hospital in 1947. He delivered his first baby in 1944; he is estimated to have delivered 15,000 babies there over about 50 years.
Watson was also the oldest living graduate of The Citadel, the military college in Charleston, S.C., where he graduated in 1931.
