CANTON, Ga. -- An armed man was fatally shot in front of a Canton home by Cherokee County deputies on Saturday.
Deputies responded to a domestic call involving suicidal threats at 320 Hideaway Acres just before noon. When they arrived at the scene, they confronted a man outside the home firing a 45 caliber handgun. They ordered the man to drop his weapon but he refused. He was shot by deputies and later died from his injuries.
The shooting is under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, and three deputies have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The man has not been identified.
