Atlanta, Ga. -The Georgia Department of Transportation is warning drivers to allow more time or avoid the north side of I-285 altogether this weekend. Three lanes are being closed in both directions as the top-end repaving project continues.
Business owners in the area said they haven't seen their bottom lines affected yet, but their customers are.
"You'll have some people that get really upset but it's not too bad," said Sally's Gluten-free bakery owner Taylor Owings. "We'll have people calling around closing time and explain that it's taking awhile to get here."
Owings said he's found himself staying an hour late to meet them on the weekends. He also hears from customers who avoid the area on weekends.
The DOT said the project will take a break when the cold weather arrives in the winter, and then they'll finish up in the spring.
