COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- Burdett Park has received a grant from the Sprite Spark Parks Project, allowing for the park's basketball court to be refurbished.
The $15,000 grant is based on over 76,000 votes earned on SpriteSparkParks.com. The Sprite Sparks Parks Program is a joint initiative from Sprite and the National Recreation and Park Association.
According to Jolene Freeman of the Fulton County Government, Burdett Park was built in 1976 and has served as the home of several youth basketball championship teams.
The park's facilities include athletic fields, a gymnasium, picnic shelter and a playground. Inside the gym are the indoor court and locker rooms.
"Basketball courts such as Burdett Park are among the best places teens can go to be physically active, improve their health and have fun with friends," Tony Phillips, Assistant Director of Fulton County's Planning and Community Services Department said.
