MIAMI (AP) -- Tropical Storm Nadine remains just below hurricane strength as it swirls in the Atlantic far from land.

The storm's maximum sustained winds late Thursday are near 70 mph (110 kph) with some strengthening expected.

Nadine is centered about 765 miles (1231 kilometers) northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands and is moving northwest near 15 mph (24 kph).

Meanwhile in the Pacific, Tropical Storm Kristy has maximum sustained winds near 50 mph (85 kph). The storm is off Mexico's coast and is centered about 235 miles (378 kilometers) southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California and is moving west-northwest near 10 mph (17 kph). Gradual weakening is forecast over the next two days. Swells generated by Kristy are expected to create dangerous conditions along parts of the southwestern Mexico coast.
