FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -- The pilot and passenger of a small plane were killed in a crash near Lake Lanier Thursday night.
Friday morning, Forsyth County Coroner Lauren McDonald identified the victims as 45-year-old Don Hall and 40-year-old David Schorr, both of Cumming. Officials with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department said the men were killed on impact.
According to Forsyth County Fire, their plane went down in front of Deer Creek Shore Presbyterian Church at around 8 p.m., and there was no way for the men to be saved.
The wreckage landed on the corner of Bamby Road and Lanier Drive. Nobody on the ground was injured, although the church was holding a Bible study at the time of the crash.
The cause of the crash is still unclear. Representatives with the Federal Aviation Administration will be on the scene Friday to try to figure out how the plane went down.
