COVINGTON, Ga. -- One man suffered second degree burns to his feet and ankles after a chemical spill at a Newton County manufacturing facility.
Newton County Fire responded to the call around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
Witnesses says a fortklift operator was unloading a container of peroxide when he lost control of the lift causing the chemical to fall from the truck.
According to authorities about 500 gallons of hydrogen peroxide spilled at the Nisshinbo Automotive Manufacturing plant and crews had to use about 2,000 gallons of water to dillute it.
There were no other injuries to report and Newton County Fire & Hazmat will be clearing
