ATLANTA -- The State Board of Pardons and Paroles will hear from representatives of inmate Warren Hill to advocate clemency for him on Friday.

Death by lethal injection is scheduled for Hill on Wednesday, July 18, at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Ga.

Hill was serving a life sentence for the 1986 murder of his girlfriend, when he killed Joseph Handspike on August 17, 1990. Handspike was another inmate at the Lee Correctional Institute.  Hill was then convicted of murder and sentenced to death in 1991.

The Georgia Supreme Court later upheld the conviction and affirmed the jury's verdict.  Hill has concluded his state and federal habeas corpus proceedings.  The U.S. Supreme Court denied his appeal in June.
