WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- A driver accused of hitting a construction worker in Woodstock Friday morning has been caught in Cobb County.
Cobb County Police told 11Alive News Friday afternoon that 53-year-old Kenneth Gonzalez had been arrested.
The accident happened at around 9:30 a.m. on Interstate 575 south near Towne Lake Parkway.
Woodstock Police spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said the victim, whose name was not released, was working on a new entrance ramp from Ridgewalk
Parkway to I-575 when he was hit. He suffered serious, possibly
life-threatening injuries and was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.
Gonzalez was charged with DUI and is being held in the Cobb County Detention Center. He will face more charges from Woodstock Police as soon as investigators secure arrest warrants.
The suspect's car, a gray 2006 GMC Sierra, suffered considerable damage in the accident, including the loss of its passenger side mirror.
