CARROLLTON, Ga -- A Georgia soldier's first trip home in almost a year was a special one as she paid a surprise visit to her little sister's high school graduation.
Army Specialist Daphne Gilmore has been in Kosovo since last September. She made the ten hour flight home just in time to see her sister Chelsey graduate from Chapel Hill High School.
Spc. Gilmore arrived halfway through the ceremony and hid behind the stage at the University of West Georgia Coliseum waiting to hear little sister's name called. As Chelsey appeared to receive her diploma, Daphne Gilmore rushed onto the stage. The audience applauded as the two locked in a tearful embrace.
Somehow, the 20-year-old soldier kept her entire family from finding out about her trip home.
17-year-old Chelsey Gilmore doubts her wedding will be as special.
