ATLANTA -- An Atlanta concert tradition is being revived at Piedmont Park, but it will be different from Music Midtown of years past.

After a six year absence, the fesitval will return on September 24. Instead of three days of music, it will be just be a one or two day event.

Headliners include Coldplay and The Black Keys.  Other bands slated to perform include Cage the Elephant, The Constellations, Young the Giant, Band of Skulls, The Joy Formidable, Manchester Orchestra and more.

Organizers say they are working on a possible single act Friday night concert on September 23rd.

The festival was held annually from 1995 to 2005 and, according to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, was considered one of the world's premier music festivals. After a string of bad weather and expensive acts, the festival was canceled.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed announced Music Midtown's return Wednesday with William Pate, the president of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Live Nation president Peter Conlon.

Live Nation is a live entertainment company that puts on 20,000 shows annually.

Conlon produces the Chastain Park Summer Concert Series and The Green Concert at Piedmont. He's also the original co-founder of Music Midtown.

Tickets for this year's show go on sale July 16 for $55.
