The San Diego-based real estate firm that has taken over development of the massive Buckhead project near the intersection of Peachtree and Paces Ferry Roads announced Monday that the project has a new name: "Buckhead Atlanta."
The project, previously known as Streets of Buckhead, was one of the largest commercial development projects put on hold as a result of the downturn in the nation's economy that has hit Atlanta area real estate particularly hard. OliverMcMillan took over development of the project in April and says the new Buckhead Atlanta will fit seamlessly in the Buckhead Village area and create a foundation that will drive growth in Buckhead as a whole.
"Buckhead Atlanta wil be woven into the fabric of this world-class community," said OliverMcMillan CEO Morgan Dene Oliver at a conference in Las Vegas Monday. "Anyone who visits Buckhead Atlanta will know they are someplace special and they will want to return often."
The project has been scaled back from its initial plans, but will include commercial and residential properties. Construction is set to resume on the project in late 2011.
