The former Gwinnett County dentist who admitted last week to the gunshot slayings of his wife in 2004 and his girlfriend in 1990 will start his life prison sentences on Tuesday.
Dr. Barton Corbin, 42, will be transported to the state prison in Jackson, according to Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Stacey Kelley.
Corbin -- who had a dental practice in Dacula -- pleaded guilty Friday in the deaths of his wife, 33-year-old Jennifer Corbin, and his former girlfriend, 27-year-old Dolly Hearn, in Augusta.
A judge sentenced him to concurrent life terms.
Corbin had maintained until Friday that both women committed suicide and that it was a coincidence that the relationships ended in suspicious deaths. The plea agreement was made during jury selection in the murder trial in his wife's death. It came together soon after prosecutors connected Corbin to the gun used to kill his wife.
Georgia Department of Corrections spokeswoman Tracy Smith says Corbin is scheduled to be sent to the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, which is about 80 miles south of Corbin's former dental office. He will then be assigned to a permanent prison.
