Authorities released a sketch of a man wanted for rape at Emory. Police say he could connected to other assaults reported near campus.
DECATUR, Ga. -- Police say a man reported as suspicious in Decatur has come forward and is not a suspect in recent attacks near Emory University.
A woman told police that she had spotted a man Friday on Erie Avenue who matched the description of a rape suspect.
After news reports aired about the sighting, the man came forward and told police that he believed he was the person that 17-year-old had seen. After investigating, authorities believe the man to be the person that the woman encountered.
Police do not believe that man is connected to the rape or recent assaults near Emory. The suspect in those attacks is still being sought by police.
According to the incident reports, the suspect walked up behind his victims. The victims' ages are listed at 19, 21 and 28.
The suspect is described in his 50s with a reddish brown beard. He was wearing a cap. Anyone who sees him is asked to call police.
