Brookhaven Police Lt. Brandon Gurley said Abdullah's girlfriend flagged down a police officer and asked for help, saying she and the suspect were arguing.
Abdullah reportedly gave police the fake name Torrie Jones. An officer used a fingerprint scanning system to learn Abdullah was wanted for murder in Hillsborough County, Fla., according to Gurley.
Police in Florida emailed Brookhaven investigators a photo of Abdullah to help them confirm the suspect's identity.
Abdullah was booked in the DeKalb County Jail.
