A panel of judges representing the Atlanta Track Club, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and local graphic artists will select five finalists from all of the entries received by the deadline. Those five will be revealed on Saturday, March 15. From there, the public will vote for their favorite.
The winning design will be featured on more than 60,000 t-shirts for Peachtree runners, unveiled only at the end of the race on July 4.
It's a longstanding tradition for Atlanta Track Club. The group has used the contest to determine the design for the Peachtree finishers' shirt since 1995.
"The AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt Design Contest is a great way to showcase the work of our local artists," said Sue Payne, Atlanta Track Club's interim executive director. "We are always impressed with the entries we receive."
Along with having their design featured on thousands of Peachtree shirts, the winning artist also receives $1,000, and each of four runners-up receives $100 for their efforts.
