Kevin Liles is on deadline.
Today he covered one of the hot topics of these Olympic Games -- the homeless dogs.
There has been global scrutiny of Sochi's street dogs -- so today Liles and his reporter went to the town of Sochi to visit a shelter that just opened this week.

Liles is also a Georgia boy -- he grew up in Madison but lives in Griffin now.
And he'd never left the USA until he came to Sochi to freelance for USA Today.
An accomplished and frequently published photographer, Liles work has an emotional feel -- he's even begun his own project photographing the street dogs of Sochi.
He's been here a month, documenting preparations for the games -- he says he has always felt safe -- but he misses home.
"I do miss Georgia, I do miss Georgia. I do miss good country cookin', that's for sure."
Leaving Georgia for Sochi is a heck of a maiden voyage out into the world -- this was no toe dip in the water -- it was a dive under the waves -- and Liles is loving it.
"I never thought I'd be here and I'm grateful that I'm here," he said. "I'm able to be a part of this."
