SUWANEE, Ga. -- About 1,700 Gwinnett County residents are without power Tuesday morning.

Power lines came down at around 4:20 a.m. near the intersection of Old Peachtree and Collins Hill roads in the northern part of the county.

As of 5 a.m., crews from Jackson EMC are working to repair the lines in that intersection. A company spokesperson said a truck hit a power pole, bringing down the wires.

Nearly 1,000 Jackson EMC customers in the area are without power; the company spokesperson said most of those affected are industrial customers. About 700 more Gwinnett residents in other parts of the county also reported outages.

There was no immediate word on when power will be restored.
