BROOKHAVEN, Ga. -- The newly formed city of Brookhaven will hire about 50 police officers to patrol the 12 square-mile city.
Brookhaven Police Chief Gary Yandura is looking to hire "qualified officers who match the makeup of the city." He also expressed interest in recruiting multilingual officers.
"Our goal is to have the best officers to serve and protect Brookhaven," Yandura said. "Our focus will be on hiring officers who understand community policing, have excellent records of service, education and attitude."
The city is looking for patrol officers, sergeants and lieutenants, as well as detectives. All prospective candidates must by certified by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.
