New discussions have emerged surrounding the proposed stadium project that would replace the Georgia Dome for the Atlanta Falcons.
11Alive's Help Desk spent the day calling metro Atlanta lawmakers. Of those who were available to speak to the Help Desk regarding their stance on the proposal, feelings were mixed.
HELP DESK | How to contact your lawmakers
Of the 124 lawmakers that the Help Desk contacted, eleven returned our calls and weighed in with their opinions. Most were undecided, while others mentioned that a new stadium would be welcomed if the Falcons were willing to front the costs of the stadium on their own, and leave taxpayer funds out of the equation.
Others noted that the current stadium was adequate, and that the state has more pressing issues at this time.
The legislature is currently not in session, but is scheduled to reconvene on Monday, January 14, at 10:00 a.m.
