UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations is defending her early account on the attack in Benghazi that killed the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans.

Susan Rice says her comments that a mob enraged by an anti-Muslim video posted on YouTube attacked the consulate were based on the initial intelligence community assessments. She says she made it clear it was preliminary information.

Her critics say it was clearly a terrorist attack on the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11. terrorist attacks on the U.S.

The focus is on Rice because she is believed to be President Barack Obama's first choice to replace Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is not expected to stay on during his second term.
