MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- An employee of a McDonough ALDI grocery store was shot in the foot during a robbery Thursday.

Henry County Police spokesman Sgt. Joey Smith said the robbery happened at around 8:45 p.m. at the store on Jonesboro Road.

Smith said the suspect waited inside the store until closing and then demanded money from the three employees working at the time. He shot one employee and then ran from the store with cash.

The victim was taken to Piedmont Henry Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, Smith said.

The employees described the gunman as a black man, about 40 to 50 years old, 5-feet-8-inches tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing grey sweatpants and a grey hooded sweatshirt with AND1 printed on the front.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Henry County Police at 770-288-8299.
