GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Demitri Atkins, of Murrayville, was arrested by Hall County Sheriff's Deputies on Thursday afternoon after a brief pursuit.
Deputies spotted Atkins driving a Chevrolet Tahoe on Price Road at Dudley Road around 2:47 p.m., as they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle at Bark Camp Road. According to deputies, Atkins would not stop, and drove onto Thompson Bridge Road heading toward Lumpkin County.
Atkins finally stopped voluntarily at a gas station at Thompson Bridge Road and GA 400, where deputies took him into custody without further incident.
Deputies said the pursuit reached speeds around 65 miles per hour. There were no accidents or injuries.
Atkins was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants for probation violation, with the original charges of possession of marijuana and obstruction of officers. Deputies had received additional information around that time what Atkins was armed and behaving erratically.
He was booked into Hall County Jail in the two warrants, and was charged with Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Reckless Driving, Driving While Unlicensed, Passing on a Hillcrest, Passing within 200 feet of Oncoming Traffic and two counts of Failure to Stop at a Posted Stop Sign.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office, Uniform Patrol Division continues to investigate the incident.
