DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis invites all DeKalb residents to take part in the fourth annual Hazardous Waste Event on Saturday, October 20, in Decatur.
Held at the DeKalb County Central Transfer Station from 8 a.m. until noon, residents can dispose of household hazardous wastes, free of charge. According to Burke Brennan of DeKalb County communications, the Household Hazardous Waste Event is sponsored by Keep DeKalb Beautiful and the DeKalb County Sanitary Division.
Brennan said that hazardous wastes contain potentially dangerous chemicals, and can harm the environment if combined with regular trash. By taking part in the event, residents can properly dispose of household items, while keeping homes and landfills clean and safe.
Items included in the event are aerosols, mercury, batteries, adhesives, flammables, lawn care products, automotive products, fluorescent bulbs, photo chemicals, hobby and art supplies, paints and swimming pool cleaners and chemicals.
ID's are required at the event. For more information, contact Keep DeKalb Beautiful at (404) 371-2654.
