ROME, Ga. -- The Rome-Floyd E.C.O. Center will hold a free seminar on whitetail deer hunting and management strategies on Thursday at the facility in Ridge Ferry Park.

According to Luke Chaffin of the Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau, anyone can attend, and the seminar will be of interest to hunters, landowners and outdoor enthusiasts. Those who attend will hear of herd management, habitat management, recruitment and nutrition.

"Our hope in putting together this program is for attendees to have a better understanding of whitetail deer biology and how it relates to the ecosystem in Northwest Georgia," Ben Winkelman, wildlife conservation specialist with the City of Rome said. "The more you know about a species, the better prepared you are as a hunter and sportsman."
