ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police have made an arrest in connection with the slaying of a restaurant owner earlier this year.
Gerald Peterson, 23, was taken into custody over the weekend. Jail records show that he faces charges including murder and robbery, but do not indicate whether he has an attorney.
Authorities say 53-year-old Vanessa Thrasher was preparing to testify in an upcoming murder trial when she was gunned down at O.T.'s Lounge and Soul Food Grill in northwest Atlanta on Aug. 16.
Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said that Thrasher was a key witness in the trial of a man charged with killing one of her employees in May 2011.
Police also arrested 23-year-old Otis Ricks Jr. a day after the shooting.
Peterson is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Oct. 19.
